The last thing I remember was walking into the castle to discuss a truce with the dragon. He had a very reasonable proposal that would allow us to help each other. Then, out of nowhere, a green cloud rushed at us and the next thing I know I was surrounded by a white light.
I found myself looking down hundreds of feet onto the castle and my travel companions. I could hear the clash of steel, the twang of a bow and the roar of a bear as the green dragon climbed its way up the tower. As it reached the top of the tower, it jumped and hovered above the stairs looking down on Mudd and Bruenor as another green cloud appeared.
Huh, that looked familiar.
My companions were making good headway towards taking the dragon down, but he turned to fly away. If only I could have been down there to help them with an Eldritch Blast! Then, the truly unexpected happened. The bear leapt up and clung on to the dragon’s foot. I squinted my eyes and I thought I must be seeing things (I was floating high up in the sky after all). But no, Mudd was clinging on the the dragon for dear life and the dragon was losing altitude. I cringed and resigned myself that Mudd was in a helpless position. At any moment, the dragon would surely drop him off a cliff. Then a small shape jumped from the top of the castle and down onto the dragon with his axe raised high. Bruenor’s blow connected and the dragon flailed its head in pain. Mudd began to bite an claw at the dragon as Bruenor continued to swing his axe. The dragon suddenly went limp and crashed 40ft down to the earth. Mudd and Bruenor stood up, apparently only sustaining minor injuries. How was that possible?
GASP! I opened my eyes, looking up at the Dragonborn female. Such pain! My throat felt raw and my body was covered in red sores. She pulled away the vial that I recognized as the one that had contained my healing potion. Alive. It had all been a dream. The pain subsided as the potion continued to take effect. A dream. Of course it had been. It would have been madness for Mudd and Bruenor to have jumped on a dragon.
